#35 April Showers

Sometimes I just need a little "in-between projects" quilting.  So lately I've been coming up with small wall-hangings for our entryway, right above my quilt cabinet.  They are seasonal and coordinate with other mini quilts and decor, including a vase of flowers.

This one is called April showers and I used a charm pack of fabric called Rainy Day by Me and My Sister designs.  It's been sitting in my fabric stash for a while.  Anyway, I decided to use this pattern shared by a quilter I follow. I love pinwheels and especially this ribbon border.

You can see the umbrellas, waves and fish here.

I added the cute little flower buttons for an extra cute ; ) touch.

All of the fabric for the border and binding was from my stash of fabric from previous projects.  But I did buy the backing fabric.

And then...I ran across this pillow shared by another quilter I follow and I thought it would be a perfect complement to the wall hanging.  So I made a mini pillow.  Those 3D triangles that look like little flags are called "prairie points". I just love them.

I even learned how to do a zipper enclosure so I can take off the cover.  And you know what that means, I can create more coordinating pillows and switch them out like I do the wall-hanging and mini quilts.  Never ends......

Here you can see (barely) the little mini quilt (near the door) from the club I'm in at Stitches of Love quilting.

And that's April Showers!!
